Install, open a file, done.

Download the beta for Mac or Windows, let the model files download once, and start the 15-day trial inside the app. No card, no account. The 15 days start when you press Start in the app, not when you download.

Other system:Linux and Windows on ARM: not supported.

The SHA-256 checksum of each installer is published next to it. Compare it after downloading.

Beta for testing, not signed yet. On a Mac the first start may be blocked: right-click the app and choose Open, or go to System Settings › Privacy & Security › Open Anyway. On Windows you may see “Windows protected your PC”: choose More info › Run anyway. Why the warning: the beta is not yet signed with an Apple or Microsoft developer certificate. Signed installers are planned for the first release after the beta. Until then, compare the SHA-256 checksum published next to each installer.

A 30-second check. Mac: Apple menu › About This Mac. You need “Chip: Apple M1” or later, and 16 GB of memory for every feature. Windows: Settings › System › About. You need “Installed RAM” of 16 GB and “System type” 64-bit.

A Mac with Apple silicon, or a 64-bit Windows 11 PC. Memory decides which features run together.

8 GBmemory · basic

Chat and summaries only. Document chat with OCR and dictation together is not supported. About 6 GB of disk.

16 GBmemory · every feature

All features. Best with a graphics chip; without one, dictation and OCR load one at a time and a scanned page takes about 18 seconds. About 10 GB of disk.

32 GBmemory and more

All features at once, plus an optional larger model. About 28 GB of disk with the larger model.

Speed on Windows laptops without a graphics chip has not been measured yet. Expect slower answers there; we will print the measured figure here.

Install, step by step.

Three steps. The second one needs internet, once.

  1. Open the .dmg and drag Vult1 to Applications

    Then open Vult1 from Applications. If macOS blocks it, right-click › Open, or System Settings › Privacy & Security › Open Anyway.

  2. Let the model files download, once

    A banner offers “Download now” (about 9 GB). Keep the app open until it says the models are ready. Files are checked after download and stay on your disk. You can keep working in other apps; if the download stops, press it again and it resumes.

  3. Start the 15-day trial

    Licence tab › enter an e-mail address › Start 15-day trial. Or paste a licence key. Then drop a folder on a matter. Your 15 days start now.

Once. Then nothing more is downloaded unless you ask.

Activate your licence.

By e-mail for most offices. By USB with a voucher for computers that never connect.

By e-mail

  1. Your keys arrive by e-mail after purchase (buying opens soon).
  2. Licence tab › paste the key › Activate.
  3. One computer per key; move it up to three times a month from the order page.

By USB, for a computer without internet

  1. Plug in the stick. On first start choose “Install from a folder or USB disk”: installer, model files and statute packs are checked and copied.
  2. The Licence tab shows this computer’s request code and the voucher number read from the stick.
  3. On a phone, open licence.vult1.com/activate, enter both, and type the short activation code back into Vult1. Done, with the cable still out.

If you received a .vult1licence file instead (an older .vultlicence file opens the same way): double-click it, drop it on the window, or press “Use this licence” when the app finds it.

If something fails.

Every problem message in the app starts with “Problem:” and says what to do. The common ones are here.

A banner says the models are missing

Press “Download now”. If the download stops, press it again: files are checked and resumed. The only network traffic is the request for the files.

“The computer clock is earlier than the last time Vult1 ran”

Correct the date and time, or connect to the internet so the licence can be renewed. This protects the trial and licences from clock changes.

The app is read-only

The trial or the licence has ended. You can still open, export and delete your matters. A licence in the Licence tab brings everything back.

Scans are slow

Without a graphics chip a scanned page takes about 18 seconds. Phone photos need a graphics chip.

A PDF could not be read

Problem: it may be password-protected. Remove the password and add it again.

The model download is slow

About 9 GB is 72 gigabits: at least 12 minutes at 100 Mbit/s and about an hour at 20 Mbit/s. Start it before a break. The files are checked as they arrive and the download resumes after an interruption.
