Offline and security

What leaves your computer, and what never does.

For a lawyer the question is not “is the AI good” but “where do my client’s documents go”. With Vult1 they go nowhere. Here is the full list of what does.

What never leaves your computer

  • Documents, scans, photos, e-mails and recordings
  • The questions you ask and the answers you get
  • Summaries, translations, transcripts and filled templates
  • Names and values found when blacking out
  • The text of your matters and their index
  • Your licence key in clear form (only a hash is stored on our side)

channels in total. Each one is listed below, with its purpose, its content and its switch.

A guard inside the program refuses any connection to an address that is not on this list, so even a library that tries to call home fails. Each channel shows the time of its last contact in Settings, and can be switched off.

What does leave your computer

Four channels. None carries document content.

A log of every model call

Per matter, on your computer: which model, when, a fingerprint of the input. Never the text. The log can be exported for your own records.

Exports are sealed

A matter exported for a colleague is an encrypted, signed file. The keys live in your operating system’s keychain. Backups use the same format.

At rest: your disk encryption

Vult1 relies on FileVault or BitLocker for confidentiality at rest and warns you in Settings when the disk holding your data is not encrypted. Deleting a matter overwrites its files before removing them.

What we do not claim

We do not claim that using Vult1 satisfies your professional or data-protection duties. Your obligations are yours; a data-protection note for each country is being prepared with counsel.

We do not claim certifications, audits or approvals we do not have. There are none yet. We publish instead: the list above, the measured limits on the product page, and the names and licences of the models.

We do not claim that the AI is accurate. We measured it and publish the figures, including where it fails. Evaluation results

Questions from IT

Does the licence check send anything about documents?
No. It sends your key or trial e-mail and a salted hash of this computer; never anything about documents.
Can we block the four channels at the firewall?
Yes. A paid licence keeps working for 30 days after its last check, and an offline licence file for up to 365 days.
Where is the licence server?
At Scaleway, in Paris.
